Who we are and what we do

Compado is a young, innovative company located in the heart of Berlin. Our mission is to become the main platform for individualized, independent, and above all trustworthy product recommendations. Our international team dedicates itself every singly day to find the very best products, so we can test and present them to you.

We constantly expand our pool of reviews, rising to any challenges along the way. We use the latest technology to make Compado better, faster, and more reliable. We strive to never be artificial, but rather remain heavily personalized. We aren't laboratory technicians, but actual product users and enthusiasts. Transparency is our motto, independence our creed, staying current our duty, and trustworthiness our highest ideal.

Our experts

Like you can see in our reviews, we work with experts in order to provide the best recommendations. What qualifies someone as an expert? They don't necessarily need to have a dedicated education in their area of expertise. To us, it's more important that the expert is an avid user of the products they compare. A keen amateur photographer could write reviews about cameras, for example.

We pick our experts based on sample reviews they submit to us. If someone's submission convinces us that they're knowledgable in their area, we'll contact them regarding the subjects we're planning to review. After that external expert provides us with the review, we run it through our internal quality checks and after a thorough assessment it'll be published. How we test and how we make money doing it

Compado is an independent platform. None of our partners or producers of the tested products can influence the outcome of our reviews. Our reviews can't be bought or made to order. We finance our site through ads and sales commisions. We want to be more than just another consumer portal. Our goal is to bring the same level of personal guidance you used to get in specialized stores into the digital age. Harnessing the passion and know-how of experts to provide the best advice for you.

In addition to our many different tests and comparisons, our most valuable source of information comes from people who know exactly what they're talking about. Our experts. We work with people who can truly be called experts in their fields and are eager to share the knowledge they have acquired through years of involvement in their respective areas of expertise. Some of these are part of our internal team, others are external partners. We are constantly on the lookout for new talent so we'll be able to cover even more products and categories. They provide their expert knowledge, we provide the platform, and together we provide the guidance consumers need to find the offer that is right for them.

The parameters of our tests and comparisons

Not only do we work non-stop to improve our platform, we also make sure to consistently check and update the way we recommend products. What causes one product to make a better impression than another? We try to keep the process that leads to these decisions as clear and comprehensible as possible. We test a great many different products, and therefore have many different factors that weigh in when it comes to the final verdict of our tests. There is no "one size fits all" when it comes to our comparisons, as we will always try to work from the point of view of people who'll actually purchase and use the products. We won't be blinded by marketing messages, but truly focus on what the most important factors are when it comes to the everyday use of every product.

We have developed a wide spread of criteria that every user can understand. Of course we also keep an eye on the price and performance of every product. Since the cost of a product can often be an important factor to a consumer, we'll always indicate an additional Price-Performance winner in addition to the overall best-performing product in every review. That way every user can decide which factors are the most important to them, the overall best result of product tested according to our criteria, or the best bang for your buck.

Does Compado test every single product?

Compado is heavily invested in testing every product on our website personally and in-house. However, should this be impossible, we won't consider the review a "test". In those cases we'll base our verdict on the thorough research and analysis of all the information available to us. This information includes, among other things, test results from independent institutes, expert opinions, customer feedback, and online reviews. A comparison of these sources will then provide the basis of our own review.
